Summer is effectively half over. It always seems to take too long to get hear and too fast to leave. I don't camp or fish or do many of the outdoor activities that are available to us but I do ride motorcycles. I'm fortunate that in my job I can often ride while I work. The other day was just such a day. The weather was beautiful and the biggest thing I had to haul was a sold sticker. I rode out to Lac Ste Anne County to stick said stickers and the For Sale signs. The lot was scheduled for auction on August 16th but as with all my real estate auctions the property is subject to prior sale and is always being marketed. The night before I had done that very thing. The seller and the buyers were happy and that makes me happy.

The 15th Annual Charity Golf Classic put on by my good friends over at K97 Classic Rock Radio Station is fast approaching. I do custom framing as a bit of a hobby and although I don't have much time for it these days I do like to use my power for good when I can.

This year I only had time to frame one item for them. The guitar was signed at last years Edmonton Rock Music Festival. The display includes a mini poster of the event and a my VIP pass was also included.

They will auction off the guitar at the tournament to help raise money for their many causes.

Last Wednesday I gained a new daughter when Becky and my son Mike were married under the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It was everything you would imagine it to be.

I left so many things unchecked on my "Paris To Do" list that I will be planning another trip back just as soon as I can.

Last week I did auction for the Stick Curlers in St.Albert. They were having a tournament and had few auction items at the banquet. Milt (far left) is an old auction client of mine, he was curling in the tournament and was one of the organisers. The table I sat at for dinner had three more past clients and I for one had a great evening visiting with them and making new friends of the others at the table.

The guest speaker for the evening was Gold Medal Winner Marc Kennedy.
The St.Albert Curling Club is his home turf, so to speak. He talked about being a child and spending family time in that very building, plus of course he talked about being a gold medal winner.

Let's just say that the crowd was far more interested in what he had to say than what I had to say, as was I.

I have been working on a small project in Sturgeon over the past few months that involved subdividing,  getting easements and development permits etc. The staff at the Sturgeon County office have been great to deal with. Prompt return of phone calls and emails, in fact usually calling me before I even had to call them. Thank you :)

I wish I could say the same for everyone I have to deal with. I have several Federal Government agencies I deal with on a regular basis and over the course of a full week I am on hold, listening to their 60 second recorded loop over and over, for a total that likely adds up to a full work day. I, of course, put the phone on speaker so as to keep myself busy with paper or computer work while I wait my turn, only to have them disappoint me when they finally do pick up, usually.

Ever wonder what happened to customer service? I bet you have, I know I have. Actually, there is a lot of good people out in the world. The trouble is we tend to remember the negative over the positive. There is no denying that service has changed. The business model behind some of the Big Box stores is volume based over quality.

Even if not always, we are all guilty of being influenced by price on occasion. My experience, when I price shop, the service is sub par and the purchased item is disappointing.

The end result is we have a lingering memory of bad service and buyer remorse.

If it's the purchase of a new TV or Car it's bad enough, your home is unacceptable. In short, choose an agent you like and buy the best house you can afford.
